Thick White Discharge Days Before Period

No independent inquiry on CIA interrogations

The White House said Thursday not to support the creation of an independent commission of inquiry to investigate the interrogation techniques of suspected terrorists during the tenure of George W. Bush.

"Some something of this style would likely turn just a political tussle, "said the spokesman of U.S. President, Robert Gibbs , told reporters. " We all have an interest to look ahead. "

Mr. Gibbs explained that the idea of an independent commission to examine the treatment of detainees had been discussed "seriously" at the White House two weeks ago, when Barack Obama decided to make public four secret memos who served during the tenure of George W. Bush, the legal basis for the controversial interrogation techniques including U.S. President ordered a halt in January.

"The president felt that on balance, the concept (of independent inquiry, Ed) does not appear functional in this case," said the spokesman.
The commission in charge of Intelligence within the U.S. Senate conducted its own investigation on the directions in the Bush era in interrogations.

Republicans fear that the creation of a bipartisan independent commission turns into an attempt to vilify the former president George W. Bush and senior officials of his government.
The four secret memos written between 2002 and 2005 by the legal advice of the Department of Justice authorized the use of techniques such as simulated drowning or "waterboarding".

officers practicing the interrogators could also leave detainees in stress positions and / or naked for long periods, keep them in unheated cells, striking them, depriving them of food and sleep, or threaten their families .
